A projekt főbb eseményei és eredményei / Scroll down for English version

A projekt során a szervezeteink megosztják és továbbfejlesztik azokat a módszereket, tudást, amelyek az évek során felhalmozódtak  náluk a nők elleni erőszak felszámolásáért küzdő munkájuk során. A projektnek kettős célja van: szeretnénk egyrészt saját tudásunkat és készségeinket fejleszteni, hogy a mindennapi munkánk során mi is felkészültebbek legyünk mind tudásban mind módszertani eszközökben a témával kapcsolatban. Kiemelten fontosnak tartjuk, hogy képesek legyünk felismerni az erőszakot – legyen az bármilyen, hangtalan vagy elhallgatott – és hogy tisztában legyünk azzal is, hogy milyen lehetőségeink vannak akkor, amikor egy felismert erőszakos helyzet ellen fel akarunk lépni. Másrészt célunk az is,  hogy a továbbfejlesztett módszereket továbbadjuk olyan szervezeteknek, szakembereknek, akik szintén elkötelezettek a nőkkel szemben elkövetett erőszak elleni küzdelemben.

KICK OFF MEETING / RAMALES DE VICTORIA / 2018. SZEPTEMBER 29-30.

2018. szeptember végén találkoztunk először a partnerekkel személyesen a spanyolországi Ramales de la Victoria-ban, hogy a projekt indításával kapcsolatos ügyeket megbeszéljük. A találkozót a Permacultura Cantabria szervezete.

1. PARTNERTALÁLKOZÓ / VINCI / OLASZORSZÁG / 2019. JÚNIUS 17-20.

 Az olaszországi ‘Agrado’ Egyesület bevezetése a tranzakcióanalízisbe és az érzelmi zsarolás felismerésébe, amellyel egy olyan eszközt tanítottak meg, amely korai szakaszukban segít felismerni azokat a konfliktusos helyzeteket, amelyekben nők különösen ki vannak téve a kizsákmányolás és erőszak bármilyen formájának.

2. PARTNERTALÁLKOZÓ / SOSNOWIEC / LENGYELORSZÁG / 2019. OKTÓBER 21-23.

A lengyel partnerszerveztünk, az Active Women Association az erőszakot elszenvedett nőkkel való együttműködésükről és a probléma széleskörű, társadalmi szintű tudatosításáról, regionális és orzságos politikai kampányaikról osztják meg a tapasztalataikat. 3. PARTNERTALÁLKOZÓ / BUDAPEST / 2019 NOVEMBER 24-27.

Az Anthropolis megosztotta a Digitális történetmesélés (DST) módszerét és a partnerekkel, A módszerről bővebben: http://anthropolis.hu/dst/

A projekt egyik célja, hogy a DST módszerét és eddigi tapasztalatainkat az alkalmazási területeiről olyan szakemberekkel ismertessük meg, akik a mindennapi munkájuk során a hatalmi alapú visszaélések feldolgozásában, visszaszorításában és ami mindehhez elengedhetetlen, a közösségépítéshez tudják azt használni. A partner szervezeteinknek  és más magyarországi szervezetnek 2019 novemberében tartottunk képzést a Digitális Történetmesélés Módszeréről.

PROJEKTZÁRÓ TALÁLKOZÓ / ONLINE ESEMÉNY / 2020. SZEPTEMBER 2-3.

A projektet lezáró találkozót 2 napos online találkozó keretében tartottuk meg. A találkozót az Anthropolis szervezte a romániai ATA-val együtt. Meghívtuk a NANE szakértőjét is, hogy tartson a partnerségnek egy workshopot, amin a jövőbeli projektek írásába és a nemzetközi kapcsolatok építésébe kaptunk jól hassznosítahtó betekintést. Köszönjük a NANE szakértőjének, hogy ezzel a workshop-pal hozzájárul a projekt fenntarthatósági céljaihoz!

BREAKING THE SILENCE

The main objectives are:

1. To transfer the best practices to counteract gender related abuse among women each entity has their unique set of tools and knowledge developed for gender abuse counteracting and targeting the environment of their country; we are looking to create a space for exchanging ways to understand and resolve abuse related conflicts. We seek a deeper understanding of gender violence victims and their situation on all levels, as this knowledge is essential for creating new ways and procedures for supporting them. We also want to share our original system developed for counteracting gender related abuse as we believe it will be beneficial for those interested in the subject.
2. To obtain new tools and methodologies to counteract gender violence and abuse our strategic alliance will acquire new tools for the identification and diagnosis of abuse of power, and also for results dissemination in order to increase the visibility of the project.
3. To increase the level of awareness about gender-based power abuse we want to raise awareness level among adults of gender violence feminine victims such as the Romani women, disabled, LGTBQ, immigrants, refugees, elderly etc.
4. To strengthen alliances at the regional, national and European levels with entities that fight to counteract gender violence and abuse.

The main activities in the Project include:

Project meetings

Two transnational meetings will be held in Spain and Romania in which project and dissemination coordinators will participate to start the project officially, as well as make the final evaluation of it.

Kick Off meeting / Ramales de la Victoria / 28 – 29 September 2018

The first transnational meeting of the project (Kick-off Meeting) was held in Ramales de la Victoria, Cantabria, Spain, and hosted by Permacultura Cantabria. Partner organisations delegated two persons to this meeting: one person was the coordinator of the project, the other person was responsible for the dissemination tasks at the organization. It was a two-day event, between 28 – 29 September 2018. The Kick-off meeting’s purpose was to review and readjust the work plan and distribute tasks and deadlines among participants. The meeting also supported partners to better familiarise with the project goals, to learn and established a common understanding on the term ‘violence against women’ to have a common starting point of the project work, and to make sure that each of the partners understands the same issue under this term. It was also important that participants discussed their contribution and explained their planned programs for the learning activity. 

Final meeting / Budapest / Hungary / 2-3 September 2020

The second transnational meeting of the project (Final Evaluation Meeting) was held online. The partnership planned to have this meeting in Romania, hosted by ATA. However, because of the pandemic and lockdowns, we postponed it,  then we agreed that it is safer to move this meeting into the online space. The meeting was a two-day event, including a workshop for project writing in the field of GBV. The meeting was organized by the collaboration of Anthropolis A. and ATA. Partner organisations delegated two persons to this meeting: one person was the coordinator of the project; the other person was responsible for the dissemination tasks at the organisation. The primary purpose was to evaluate the project and discuss all the relevant issues for closing the project. 

Online Workshop: An expert working at the NANE, a non-profit Women’s Rights Association in Hungary gave us a 2 hours long online workshop. The workshop provided to the partnership a wide range of and comprehensive knowledge and best practices for writing and implementing projects, on joining international networks of professionals working in the field GBV. This workshop notably supported the thinking on the sustainability of the project.

Learning activities

1st Participatory Visit in Italy: LTTA 1: Agrado Association, Vinci (IT), 17-20th June 2019, 2 people/entity.

– to visit local entities relevant to the preventive diagnosis subject

– to comprehend the best practices carried out by the Agrado Association for violence against women diagnosis, analysis and counteraction

– to gain deeper knowledge on power abuse suffered by women belonging to vulnerable groups (ethnic and rural minorities, refugees, elderly…)

LTTA 1: Agrado Association, Vinci (IT), 17-20th June 2019, 2 people/entity. 

The objectives of this Visit was:

– to gain deeper knowledge on power abuse suffered by women belonging to vulnerable groups (ethnic and rural minorities, refugees, elderly…)

The primary aim was that Agrado A. gave an introductory training on Transactional Analysis and its applied use for adult training. The training started with an introduction to the ‘Pragmatics of Human Communication’ by Paul Watzlawick. The training notably strengthened our communicating skills, and we gained skills to prevent, recognise and fight emotional and psychological violence and manipulation. The training part on emotional blackmailing, for instance, provided us with new knowledge, which we can apply into other fields of our working areas, such as violence in schools, peer conflicts, gender equality. The programme included a field trip to a local organisation, Lilith organisation, a regional crisis centre and Casa Matilda (managed by  Lilith), a new shelter for women and children victims of violence.

LTTA 2: Active Women Association, Sosnowiec (PL), 21-23rd October 2019. 

The objectives of this Visit was:

– to comprehend the systemic abuse suffered by women, focusing especially on the situation of immigrant women,

– to visit local entities relevant to the counteracting violence against women and gender equality,

– to understand the best practices used by the AWA organisation for fighting gender related abuse,

– share and exchange our realities regarding the abuse of power in women.

AWA shared their project and experiences which focused on empowering women, the president talked about how the association supported local women politicians in their campaign during the national elections in 1919, we received a lecture on the experiences to organise a political protest (presentation by Katarzyna Majchrzak – leader of the ‘Black protest Movement in Silesia Region’). We had an introduction to Wendo training. We had insights on how to apply art-based workshops in non-formal education: AWA introduced a documentary titled ‘Sisters’, produced in one of their previous projects and we visited an exhibition in Tychy city, the Silesian Art Factory and Muzeum, where Marta Frey’ work (a dedicated feminist artist) was presented. The Polish associate gave us a workshop based on the artworks. The theme of her exhibition was ‘Art Against Patriarchy’. Finally, the program included a field trip to the Crisis Intervention Centers in Sosnowiec

LTTA 3: Anthropolis, Budapest (HU), 24-27th November 2019, 2 people/entity. 

The objectives of this Visit was:

– to comprehend better the systematic abuse suffered by women (especially those who come from difficult backgrounds, such as ethnic minorities, rural areas, refugees, elderly…)

– to understand the best practices carried out by Anthropolis to counteract the systematic abuse suffered by women belonging to vulnerable groups (minority ethnic groups, rural areas, refugees, elderly…)

– to visit relevant local entities who work with women belonging to disadvantaged groups; acknowledging their main work tools

– to obtain dissemination tools useful for increasing gender violence awareness among our adult community members.

Anthropolis presented its best practices and methods to counteract the systematic abuse and violence against women and girls. It was also a vital part of this meeting that Anthropolis showed the partner organizations how to use DST for dissemination purposes. We also gave training on Modern Slavery (this educational material was developed in a previous project). The training explained modern slavery and how to teach about this issue in formal school settings using non-formal tools. By this workshop, we joined the events organised under the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, in Budapest. There was also a workshop given by a professional team of social workers and psychologists working at the Crisis Ambulance from the Hungarian Interchurch Aid, who runs the crisis ambulance. They provided an introductory workshop on necessary knowhow on GBV (definition, factors, forms of violence, victim-blaming) and the processes of supporting victims. This workshop was practically useful for the participants in learning how to engage victims and involve them in activities while respecting their experiences and needs. On the last day, Anthropolis presented training on teaching teenagers about healthy/unhealthy relationships and introduced a teachers’ manual ‘Heartbeat’ (by NANE), preventing violence in intimate teenage relationships. Finally, the program included a field trip to a women’s shelter managed by the Salvation Army.

Activities without specific budget:

Internal workshops 

All the partners organized an internal workshop (1/partner) to staff and volunteers to introduce the project results and discuss plans and possibilities for developing new projects on GBV. 

Researching country-specific data on GBV 

Each partner did small-scale research and gave a presentation of a detailed county profile regarding GBV (specific statistics, laws and cases, awareness in society). In order to present the country profile regarding the state of the art of GBV, we collected several reposts, studies, got familiar with statistical data and the specific issues related to the VAW. In this way, partners gained an updated knowledge and context analysis of their country profile, and also can discuss the different experiences of implementing methods, media coverage of real cases, the process of implementing (see, i.e., Spain) of refusing the ratification (see, i.e.Hungary) the Istanbul convention. This constant learning on the nature of GBV and the specific statistical data regarding the countries turned out to be empowering for the organization in raising their voices in the field of GBV and adapting the learned methods mainly into their educational and other programmes of projects. 

Training tools (All LTTPs and Final TM)

During our meetings, a broad range of training tools have been shared (i.e., team building activities, community building activities, tools for evaluation/reflection of a training day) which can be widely applied in our education works. All the tools are available in our shared folders. 

Workshop on writing new projects in the field of GBV (FinalTM)

An expert working at the NANE, a non-profit Women’s Rights Association in Hungary gave us a 2 hours long online workshop on the 2nd TM. The workshop provided to the partnership a wide range of and comprehensive knowledge and best practices for writing and implementing projects, on joining international networks of professionals working in the field GBV. This workshop notably supported the thinking on the sustainability of the project.

Digitális Történetmesélés alkalmazása – Közösségépítés és szemléletformálás

A DST módszerét azzal a céllal osztottuk meg, hogy eddigi tapasztalatainkat az alkalmazási területeiről olyan szakemberekkel ismertessük meg, akik a mindennapi munkájuk során a hatalmi alapú visszaélések feldolgozásában, visszaszorításában és ami mindehhez elengedhetetlen, a közösségépítéshez tudják azt használni. A projekt keretében  filmvetítéssel egybekötött workshopot alakítottunk ki,  amelyet szívesen elviszünk ifjúsági, egyetemi vagy egyéb közösségekbe, iskolákba. A film, amit vetítünk afgán nők élethelyzetét mutatja. A projekt és a hozzá kapcsolódó foglalkozás bevezetést nyújt a nemek közti esélyegyenlőség és a nők ellen irányuló erőszak témájába, Magyarországon és világszerte.

Szemléletformáló foglalkozás középiskolásoknak a bántalmazó kapcsolatról kreatív eszközökkel 

A projekt eredményeit hasznosítva kidolgoztunk egy olyan 4 alkalmas foglalkozást a 14-18 éves korosztály számára, amely kreatív eszközökkel dolgozza fel és érzékenyíti a tanulókat a helyes és helytelen párkapcsolatról. A rendhagyó tanórák hossza alkalmanként 90 perc (2X45 perc/csoport). A téma érzékenységére való tekintettel 15 fős csoportokban tervezünk dolgozni (egy-egy tréner/ 15 fős csoport, vagy teljes osztálynak 2 tréner tartja a foglalkozást). A rendhagyó tanórák tervezési szakaszában előzetesen felmérjük az adott oktatási intézmények igényét, hogy megtudjuk, mely specifikus témák, kérdések merülnek fel igényként a tanulók között, de elsősorban az alábbi témák mentén szeretnénk érzékenyíteni és készségeket fejleszteni:

• a bántalmazó párkapcsolat felismerése
• az áldozathibáztatás elkerülése, az áldozathibáztató kultúra visszaszorítása
• a közösség támogató ereje, az elfogadás elősegítése
• az esetlegesen megjelenő szélsőséges nézetek, vélemények körüljárása, kezelése

The International Women’s Year World Conference, held in Mexico City, in 1975, inaugurated the worldwide commitment to work for equality between women and men and recognised, for the first time, the seriousness of violence against women. Four years later, in 1979, the United Nations Assembly approved one of the most important legislative instruments, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). 

In 2019, 187 countries joined it. In 1993, the World Conference on Human Rights, held in Vienna, approved the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women, which constitutes a milestone, at the international level, in that it recognises gender-based violence within the sphere of human rights. This declaration not only highlights the violation of women’s fundamental rights that this violence entails, but also the obligation of the states to prosecute and eradicate it.

At the IV World Conference on Women, in Beijing, in 1995, the term ‘gender-based violence’ was adopted and the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action was approved. This definition identified violence against women as gender-based violence, occurring within the framework of social and cultural inequalities, in all spheres of life and in all societies. Since then, the international community has met, every five years in New York, to assess the implementation of the Platform for Action. These conferences have been called Beijin+5 (2000), Beijin+10 (2005), Beijin+15 (2010) and Beijin+20 (2015).

In the framework of the European Union, although the founding treaty already provides for equality between women and men, gender-based violence was first addressed in the framework of the Communication from the Commission to the Council and the European Parliament on trafficking in women for the purpose of sexual exploitation, in 1996. 

Since then, different agreements, resolutions and treaties have been enacted, at the European level, with the aim of articulating common normative instruments to fight against this violence. Among them, the European Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention), adopted in 2011, which entered into force in 2014. The Istanbul Convention has been recognised, as the most powerful legal mechanism to combat violence against women, in Europe and globally. It is the first legally binding regional instrument, in Europe, that comprehensively addresses the different forms of violence against women: physical, psychological, sexual, harassment and sexual harassment.

Reports and Data 

Violence against women: an EU-wide survey. Main Results Report. European FRA – Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, 2014 

In this report you will read about laws against hurting women, what is wrong and what to do about it. This report is written by European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights. The data, about the violence against women, of more than 900 women through surveys, in every country of the European Union is collected. The participants were over 40,000 women in total and they were asked  if anyone had been violent to them. This report also talks about different forms of violence. According to this report about one in three women say someone has hurt them physically. Most women do not tell the police when someone hurts them.

The European Women’s Lobby (EWL) brings together the women’s movement in Europe to influence the general public and European Institutions in support of women’s human rights and equality between women and men. Amnesty International

For many years women’s rights movements have fought hard to address this inequality, campaigning to change laws or taking to the streets to demand their rights are respected. Through research, advocacy and campaigning, Amnesty International pressures the people in power to respect women’s rights.
