“Report Hate” is a 24-month Erasmus+ program created with the aim of empowering young people to take active steps against hate speech. To this end, we intend to collaborate closely with six additional partners to establish the first international hate speech reporting portal specifically designed for young people. The project also includes the development of a network in Hungary whose members can be involved in dialogues related to hate speech and in promoting the active use of the portal. A wide-ranging media campaign, which will accompany the entire implementation process, serves the same objectives.

Project results:

  • Hate Speech Categorization Handbook: The handbook contains sensitive examples of illegal and extremist content. To meet legal and ethical requirements, access is restricted: a preview is publicly available, while the full version can be requested via anthropolis.iroda@gmail.com email address. Preview of the Handbook is available from here.
  • Comparative Country Analysis of Reports Received During the Project Period: The comparative country analysis examines which forms of hate speech received the most reports in each country, what patterns and differences can be identified, and what political contexts shaped the reports. It examines specific examples of the most frequently reported types of hate speech in each country and places them in context. In doing so, it provides a detailed picture of how hate speech manifested itself in different social and political contexts, and to what extent reactions and dynamics were similar or different across the participating countries. The country analysis  is available from here.
  • Handout on working with DSCs: The handout provides practical guidelines for youth organizations on how to cooperate with Digital Services Coordinators under the EU Digital Services Act, including reporting procedures, crisis response, and contributions to platform accountability and young people’s online safety. You can download the handout is available from here
  • Handout on obtaining Trusted Fahner status: The handout explains how youth organizations can obtain “Trusted Fahner” status under the Digital Services Act. It describes eligibility criteria, preparation steps, the application process, and the key responsibilities required for effective reporting of hate speech. You can download the handout is available from here.
  • Handout on building networks against hate speech: The handout offers practical guidance on building networks to combat hate speech, with a focus on roundtables, workshops, facilitation methods, communication strategies, and joint problem-solving in multi-stakeholder settings.
