Youth for Critical Thinking

Generations of “digital natives” spend several hours online each day on average, while being bombarded by an ever-increasing flood of information. It is often difficult to identify where false information is hidden, which its creators use to deliberately mislead others. The “P4C” method—“Philosophy for Children” or “Philosophy for Communities”—is well-suited to developing young people’s critical thinking skills, thereby helping online news consumers recognize fake news. For this reason, the Youth for Critical Thinking project uses P4C as its central pedagogical approach.

In this project, funded by the Erasmus+ program, the Anthropolis Association will collaborate with the German Jugendagentur for one year, starting March 1, 2023. One of the main goals of the project is to transfer the P4C method—which Anthropolis frequently uses offline—into the online space with the professional support of our German partner, who has extensive experience in the digital field. This means that in the future, both parties will be able to apply P4C training online with their respective target groups. Throughout the process, the German and Hungarian partners can thus learn from one another. Our goal is also to make our results accessible to professionals working in youth services. To this end, we are developing methodological resources that demonstrate how “P4C” can be applied in the digital space.

The project was implemented with the support of the European Union under the Erasmus+ program.
